LUIS VIRATA is a philanthropist, founder of the Museum of Manila, The M, and the Asia Society in Philippines.
This event presented the work his collection acquired alongside works of Jackson Pollock, Cy Twombly, Lee Krasner, Willem de Kooning, to a select group of his private acquaintances, curators, and collectors in Manila and in New York.
The title of this exhibition hopes to echo the belief by collectors Luis and Elizabeth Virata, and The Marie Theresa Lamoglie Virata Family Collection to introduce the work of NYC based artist Susana Aldanondo to hang among their collection that includes luminaries of the abstract discipline.
As described by Mr. Virata, he does not collect art by living artists, but Aldanondo is his exception. He believes she belongs to be named amongst these luminaries.
Aldanondo’s work hangs directly across from a Cy Twombly, a Lee Krasner to one side and a Jackson Pollock and Willem De Kooning on the other end.
